Why Materiality and Spirituality Are Not Separate (Vedic Perspective)
Through Guru PT and LotusOcean, one has been learning that materiality and spirituality are deeply connected.
There are many who believe that once you step onto the spiritual path, you must renounce or escape from material life. That to be spiritual, you must give up comfort, resources, or engagement with the physical world.
But the truth is — materiality and spirituality are not opposites. They are interdependent.
In fact, without proper material sense, spiritual evolution is not possible.
Let us first understand what materiality really means.
Materiality does not mean indulgence, excess, greed, or ego expression. It does not mean spending excessively, chasing branded items, abusing the body, or engaging in activities that deteriorate health and disturb Nature.
True material sense simply means having knowledge and sensibility about materials.
The primary material resource available to you is your physical body. Beyond that, you have access to food, clothing, shelter, and other resources necessary for living on Earth. Even Nature itself is part of the material world you exist in.

To be materially intelligent means knowing how to use your body properly, maintain it well, and live comfortably and harmoniously with the Nature around you.
We need a well-maintained body. We need clean food. We need safe shelter. We need Nature. These are not luxuries — they are foundations of wellbeing.
And what is spiritual evolution?
Spirituality, in its real sense, is nothing but an increase in wellbeing through conscious action.
It is only through your body that you can perform actions. It is through bodily discipline, awareness, and correct activity that you evolve spiritually.
So you see — material sense is necessary for spiritual growth.

(Guru Prashant Trivedi)
The confusion arises because materiality is often mixed up with indulgence. Society equates materialism with excess consumption, greed, and ego-driven living. But those behaviours actually reduce wellbeing — physically, mentally, emotionally — and often harm the environment.
Material sense is not about boosting the ego. It is about understanding which materials and resources enhance your wellbeing without disturbing harmony with Nature — and consistently applying that understanding.
Practices like grounding, meditation, and conscious connection with Nature that one learns through LotusOcean bring clarity about how to live materially in a coherent way.
Spirituality is not about giving up. It is about gaining — gaining wisdom, gaining clarity, gaining refined sensibility.
A truly spiritual person will naturally have stronger material sense because their senses are more refined. The more refined your senses, the better your decisions — materially and spiritually.
In ancient times, beings did not separate these aspects. They lived a holistic life, being both material and spiritual at the same time because they understood their connection.
So in reality, to become truly material, one must grow spiritually. And to become truly spiritual, one must develop proper material sense.
I hope this brings clarity to your understanding. Through LotusOcean teachings, I have come to understand that material clarity and spiritual evolution are not separate pursuits, but one integrated path of living. Learning to refine the senses, care for the body, and align with Nature brings both practical stability and deeper inner growth. This understanding continues to shape my journey of natural evolution with gratitude and sincerity.
